NFPA 2112 or NFPA 70E: which rating do you need?
The two standards answer different hazards. NFPA 2112 certifies fabric against flash fire, the risk in oil and gas, refining and chemical plants. NFPA 70E covers arc flash for electrical work and uses an arc rating (ATPV or EBT, in cal/cm²) to assign a PPE category. Many garments here carry both.
Most of this collection is PPE Category 2 (at least 8 cal/cm²), the everyday level for electrical maintenance. Heavier jackets, coveralls and bibs reach Category 3 or 4. Your company's hazard assessment sets the required category; each product page lists the garment's rating from the manufacturer.
Your logo has to be flame resistant too
This is the detail that matters most when decorating FR clothing. Standard polyester embroidery thread and ordinary heat transfers can melt or burn, which defeats the garment. FR shirts and outerwear should be decorated with flame-resistant thread or FR-rated emblems, kept to a reasonable size. Tell us the rating your crew works to and we will confirm the decoration method before we send your proof.
The same logic applies to what is worn underneath: a synthetic base layer under an FR shirt can melt against the skin. Use FR or untreated cotton base layers.
Inherent vs. treated FR, and comfort on long shifts
Treated cotton and cotton blends (such as 88/12 cotton/nylon) are durable and cost-effective, and the FR protection lasts the life of the garment when laundered as directed. Inherent fibers (modacrylic blends, Nomex) are flame resistant by nature and are usually lighter and more breathable, at a higher price.
For crews in heat, look at lightweight inherent FR shirts and the moisture-wicking FR tees and henleys. Stretch FR denim and canvas, like Ariat's DuraStretch FR jeans, is worth it for anyone who climbs or kneels all day.
Build a complete FR kit
This collection includes FR shirts, FR jeans and cargo pants, FR hoodies and quarter-zips, insulated FR jackets, vests, coveralls and bib overalls, plus FR hi-vis pieces for utility crews who need both. For non-FR bibs and coveralls see Coveralls & Bibs; for roadside crews without an arc or flash-fire hazard, see High-Visibility & Safety.

Frequently asked questions
Can you embroider a logo on FR clothing without voiding the rating?
Yes, when the decoration itself is flame resistant: FR thread or FR-rated emblems, applied at a sensible size. We confirm the method for your required rating before production.
What does CAT 2 mean on an FR shirt?
It is an NFPA 70E PPE category. A CAT 2 garment has an arc rating of at least 8 cal/cm². Your hazard assessment decides which category a task requires.
Do you have FR clothing for women?
Yes. Women's FR shirts, jeans, pants, sweatshirts, jackets and coveralls come from Carhartt, Portwest Bizflame, Forge FR and Rasco. Ask us for a list in your sizes.
Is FR clothing also high visibility?
Only if it says so. Some styles here are both FR and ANSI hi-vis, and their product names say FR Hi-Vis. A standard FR shirt in orange is not an ANSI-rated garment.
