Polo, work shirt or tee: start with the job
Polos suit service, retail, facilities and field sales teams that need to look put-together but move all day. Most polos here are polyester or poly blends with moisture wicking, and several carry UPF sun protection for outdoor crews.
Industrial work shirts (the classic Red Kap and Dickies button-front styles, including striped industrial shirts) are built for mechanics, drivers and plant staff. They hold a name patch and a chest logo, stand up to industrial laundering, and look the same after a year of wear.
Oxfords, poplins and broadcloth shirts from Edwards Garment cover front-desk, management and corporate programs. Work tees and henleys, like the Ariat Rebar Cotton Strong pocket tee, are the budget-friendly choice for construction and warehouse crews.
How embroidery sits on different fabrics
Embroidery looks best on woven shirts and heavier piqué polos. On lightweight performance knits, a dense logo can pull and pucker the fabric, so we usually keep left-chest logos around 3.5 to 4 inches wide and adjust stitch density before we send your proof. If your logo has fine text or gradients, tell us: a heat-applied transfer may reproduce it better on thin polyester than thread can.
Outfitting a whole team
Many styles come in matching men's and women's versions (look for the "See women's option" link on the product page) and size runs that go into 4XL, with some to 6XL. Pick one or two core colors that stay in the brand's line so new hires can be outfitted later without a mismatched shirt.
Crews working near traffic or equipment need rated garments, not just bright ones: shirts with ANSI-rated reflective tape are in High-Visibility & Safety, and arc-rated shirts are in Flame-Resistant Workwear.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the logo usually go on a work shirt?
Left chest is standard for polos and work shirts. Industrial shirts often add a name patch over the right chest, and a larger back logo works well on tees and work shirts for crews who are seen from behind.
Can I order polos for men and women in the same color?
Yes. Many polo and work shirt styles have a matching women's version; the product page links to it when one exists. Ask us to match colors across brands if you need more fits.
Will embroidery survive industrial laundering?
Embroidery holds up to commercial washing better than most print methods, which is why it is the default for work shirts. Follow the garment's care label; heavy bleach will fade thread colors along with the shirt.
